Opening of Jasra Interchange - Phase 2
Jasra Interchange Project - Phase 2, which is expected to increase the capacity of the interchange to 120,000 vehicle/day and thus reduce waiting time by 45%, in comparison to the past situation.
Project comprised of opening a new path to carry traffic from Sheikh Isa bin Salman Highway towards the causeway on to the South along Wali Al Ahad Highway towards Hamala and Dhala'a. The interchange will be free on all directions, necessitating closure of the traffic signal at the causeway.
The project also included constructing a roundabout to connect Mazarea Avenue to Sheikh Isa bin Salman Highway, Traffic coming from Hamala and Jasra will be able to enter along Sheikh Isa bin Salman Highway heading towards Manama without the need to use the causeway. The roundabout will also enable access to Hamala and Jasra for traffic coming from King Fahad Causeway, without the need to use the interchange.
BAE/HHG coordinated with the Electricity & Water Authority and other service entities to protect the 400KW ground cables and implement the civil works involved in the project.
Project was awarded to Alghanim International General Trading & Contracting Co. WLL and Haj Hassan Al A'Ali Group-Bahrain Asphalt Est. The project is funded by Kuwait, as part of the Gulf Development Programme.
